Building the Mobile Comfort Cottage

When a child experiences a house fire, a life-threatening diagnosis, the loss of a loved one, or another traumatic event, emotional support is often delayed, inconsistent, or unavailable when it is needed most.

Mrs. Claus With A Cause is working to change that.

The Mobile Comfort Cottage is our vision for a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed space that can travel directly to children and families during times of crisis. Designed to feel comforting rather than clinical, the Cottage will provide a place for connection, emotional support, memory-making activities, comfort kits, and family-centered care.

Rather than asking families to travel for support, the Comfort Cottage will bring comfort, connection, and care directly to children and families when and where it is needed most.

🏗️ Foundation & Capacity Building

🚚 Acquire and equip a 7' x 12' cargo trailer that will serve as the foundation of the Comfort Cottage.

Future Vision

🏠 Launch the Comfort Cottage throughout Central Virginia

🤝 Expand partnerships with first responders, hospitals, schools, and community agencies

🎁 Increase Comfort in Crisis Kit distribution and crisis response services

❤️ Ensure that no child faces crisis without emotional support, connection, and care
