Mrs. Claus

Mrs. Claus with a Cause was founded by a Master’s-level social worker with over twenty years of experience supporting children and families. For the past decade, she has worked as a school social worker, helping students cope with emotional challenges, trauma, and major life disruptions. Her earlier internship with Greater Richmond SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) strengthened her commitment to trauma-informed care, while more than ten years volunteering with Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia allowed her to mentor young people in confidence, resilience, and leadership.

Through these experiences, she recognized that when children face crises—such as serious illness, house fires, or natural disasters—their emotional needs are often overlooked. Mrs. Claus with a Cause was created to help fill that gap.

The organization provides trauma-informed comfort visits for medically fragile children and those impacted by fires and natural disasters. Using the familiar and comforting character of Mrs. Claus helps quickly build trust, offering children reassurance, connection, and moments of calm during difficult times.
